ADR Wales is proud to announce the opening of applications for the 2026 Population Data Science Summer Internship Programme, a paid 12‑week opportunity offering students and early‑career researchers a unique pathway into real-world data-intensive research.
For several years, ADR Wales has been a key supporter and driving force behind the Population Data Science Internship Programme, recognising its vital role in developing Wales’s future workforce in data science, research, and public sector innovation. The organisation continues to invest in nurturing emerging talent by hosting six of this year’s flagship projects, each addressing major societal issues that data-driven research can help solve.
Through its long‑term commitment, ADR Wales has helped shape the internship into a highly respected development opportunity that blends academic expertise, secure data access, and policy‑focused research in a supportive training environment.
This year’s intake includes six exciting ADR Wales hosted projects, each offering the opportunity to contribute to work with the potential for policy impact:
- The critical role of 20mph on child injury severity in Wales using STATS19 data
- Tracking more than periods: A scoping review of data privacy and security in menstrual cycle tracking applications
- Geospatial inequalities in environmental and socioeconomic indicators
- Influenza and COVID‑19 vaccination uptake
- Building public trust and demonstrating transparency in ADR Wales’ use of AI and algorithmic tools
- Flood risk exposure, deprivation, and access‑constrained communities in Wales
These projects span public health, transport safety, environmental resilience, digital ethics, and social inequalities—demonstrating the breadth of ADR Wales’ contribution to data-driven policymaking.
