ADR UK has released a new podcast called ‘Connecting Society: How everyday data can shape our lives.’ The podcast aims to make complex concepts surrounding administrative data and data linkage more accessible and engaging for a wider audience. The six-part series explores the different ways administrative data can be used to improve outcomes for communities and individuals.

In episode four listeners meet guests from Wales, Tracey Breheny and Dot Williams. Tracey is the Director for Strategy and Corporate Business, Health, Social Care & Early Years Group in Welsh Government, and Dot Williams is a Project Officer at the Butterfly Conservation and a member of the SAIL Databank Consumer Panel.

Titled ‘How data is shaping a healthier Wales,’ the episode examines how Wales’s health and care system is grappling with complex, interconnected issues and opportunities, including an ageing population, inequalities, and the rise of new healthcare technologies. Tackling these now and in the future will require evidence-based policies and strategies that connect health outcomes with broader social factors such as housing, education, and income. During the episode, Tracey and Dot not only share their respective perspectives from working within Welsh Government and as an involved member of the public but also their own personal journeys navigating their own health challenges.

The podcast co-hosts are Professor Mark Green from the University of Liverpool, and Shayda Kashef, ADR UK Senior Public Engagement Manager. Listen to their series of conversations with experts from government, academic institutions, and voluntary and community organisations as well as the public in any of the following places: Spotify, Buzzsprout and the ADR UK website.
