This Data Explained summarises the content and potential uses of the Children Looked After (CLA) Census dataset. This is the primary dataset relating to children who are looked after in
Wales (and its subsets: the adoptions of children looked after dataset; the care leavers aged 16 and over dataset; the care leavers at 19th birthday dataset; and the educational qualifications of care leavers dataset).
This paper aims to guide researchers who are interested in using these datasets to investigate the experiences of children and young people in care in Wales.
